Team captains may recruit members and are encouraged to communicate with their team before Saturday. The dessert may be prepared before the event if you wish.

Everyone should bring $5 and meet at the church about 5 p.m. We’ll break up into teams.

The team must go to the store to purchase all the items needed for its main dish (must be a chicken or beef dish). You do not need to purchase spices, dressings, etc. You can bring those from home. The dish must serve 8-10 people.

Cook the main dish by 7 p.m.

Each team is judged on its main dish and dessert. Pastor Jonathan is lining up judges and deciding on the judging criteria/points. You may complement your menu with side dishes, appetizers, etc., but those will not be judged.

We’re planning to video this event (like a real Top Chef episode), and Bobbi has already agreed to MC it and interview the participants.

If you’re not busy with family, join Pastor Jonathan and the adelphoi clan for a fun evening of fellowship, beginning at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve after the activities at the YMCA. More details regarding location coming. . .

Afterwards. . .we’re up for whatever. . . ; we might go to the outdoor skating park, but you’ll need your own skates (skate rental closes at 8). Starbucks is also close by for non-skaters or those w/o skates! We can stay out as late as everyone wants.

We’re inviting college students from around Milwaukee to join us on November 17 at 3:30 p.m. for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. All attendees will be automatically entered in the evening’s drawing for a free video nano iPod. Transportation can be provided, and we encourage all foreign students to come enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Adelphoi Members: Sign up on Sunday to help with carpooling, food, donations, gift baskets, set up/clean up and more. . .

Plan to attend the White Elephant Gift Exchange on December 2 after the Sunday evening service. We’ll be needing volunteers to bring desserts to share, and everyone needs to bring a white elephant gift. Invite your friends!

On Saturday, October 20, Adelphoi is traveling to Chicago for the day. Even if you can’t come the whole time, plan to come for some of the time. (If you’re coming at different times, you’ll want to set up your own rides.)

Carpool Meeting: (at Brookside) 7 and 7:15 a.m.
Caravan Leaves for Chicago: 7:30 a.m.
Orientation and Instructions: 9 a.m.
Church Projects (cleaning, light painting, media): 9:45 a.m.
Lunch: 12 p.m.
Flyer Distribution: (Children’s Ministry) 1 p.m.
Free Time: (Navy Pier/Michigan Ave. etc.) 3:30 p.m.
Group Dinner: (Giordano’s Pizza?) 5 or 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $10, plus money to chip in for gas for your vehicle. The $10 covers your meal out and a sandwich lunch.

Dress: Casual / Comfortable / Work clothes (but you won’t get too dirty).
